At the European level there are currently no binding regulations on the ingredients of tattoo inks. The EU Commission and the member states are currently advising on a proposal by the ECHA for uniform regulation in all member states. ECHA proposal provides for a restriction of substances of concern within the framework of the REACH which affects the tattoo inks pigments blue 15: 3 (CAS Nr. 147-14-8) and pigment green (CAS Nr. 1328-53-6). Therefore the Federal Institute of risk assessment assess the risk of this two pigments.
