Mit der Verordnung (EU) 2022/63, die am 7. Februar in Kraft tritt, wurde Titanidoxid (E 171) verboten. Bis zum 7. August 2022 dürfen Lebensmittel unter Verwendung von Titandioxid weiter hergestellt und in den Verkehr gebracht und anschließend bis zum Ende des Mindesthaltbarkeits-oder Verbrauchsdatums abverkauft werden. In Arzneimitteln darf Titandioxid mindestens für drei weitere Jahre weiter verwendet werden.

Titanium oxide (E 171) was banned with regulation (EU) 2022/63, which came into force on February 7th. Foodstuffs using titanium dioxide may continue to be manufactured and placed on the market until August 7, 2022 and then sold until the end of the best-before or use-by date. Titanium dioxide may continue to be used in drugs for at least another three years.
